NEW REFEREE CERTIFICATION CLASSESTo referee in the Dearborn Soccer Club, you must successfully complete a Referee Referee Grade 8: You must be 14 years of age to take the referee grade 8 class. The certification for a referee grade 8 consists of four 4-hour classes, usually held on successive weeks. The prospective referee must attend all four classes and pass a written test on the final day to receive certification. Referee Grade 9: You must be 11 years of age or older to take the referee grade 9 certification class. Referees holding a grade 9 certification may referee games up through U-12s. The certification for a referee grade 9 consists of two 4-hour classes, usually held on successive weekends. The prospective referee must attend both classes and pass a written test on the final day to receive certification. After a year as a grade 9 referee, the referee may opt to take a bridge class to become a referee grade 8. The bridge class consists of an additional two 4-hour classes. To Enroll:. At the present time, the Dearborn Soccer Club is not hosting any referee classes in Dearborn. To enroll in certification classes hosted in other cities, visit the Referee Committee website at www.msysareferee.net to register on-line. Enrollment material is posted on the website sometime in June for summer classes and November for winter classes. You will want to elect the new certification classes, not recertification classes. The cost is $50 for the grade 8 and $40 for the grade 9 class, and you may pay on line by credit card or mail a check or money order. Space is limited and fills up fast. To assure a place in a class, please check the MSYSA Referee website daily and sign up as soon as the classes are posted. On completion of the class, please inform Tonya Hunt at 313-727-2524 or at |
